LIBRA Brand Mathieu needle holder is different from the Mayo-Hegar in its appearance. Its shape is more modern and it has two curved arms without the usual two grip rings. This makes the instrument much lighter and easier to handle. The Mathieu needle holder is suitable for complex surgeries requiring long sutures or when the practitioner has to change needles frequently or change his grip.

Mathieu Needle Holder spring loaded closure with a “ratchet” system, without grip rings, this instrument works via a spring that curves inwards to lock/unlock the needle holder. The surgeon must apply constant pressure on the arms with the palm of the hand to engage the mechanism. The handle has a locking system via two three-position racks at the base of the handles. This closure allows the surgeon to control the tightness of the needle to hold it firmly in place.

Smooth outer surface: the hinge has been specially designed to reduce the risk of the suture catching during the knotting process, thus avoiding thread breakage

Therefore, TC is a material very high hardness with high resistance to wear and oxidation. The tungsten carbide needle holders are recognizable by their two gold handles. Non-slip jaws: the short, grooved jaws make it easier to grip the needle and hold it firmly in place to prevent slipping when suturing a wound. Tungsten carbide, makes the active parts stronger and more durable to improve the grip on the needle.
